Crochet Bag pattern free

Hello friends. Today I will share with you the crochet Bag pattern free. I hope everyone will enjoy this crochet pattern. This crochet pattern I collected from Kimberly Slifer.

 

Supplies Needed

– 8 Balls of Scheepjes Bloom or any worsted weight cotton

– 5mm hook

– 12×12 Jute bag

– ½ yard of Fabric for Lining

– Hot Glue Gun

Pattern is written using US terms

Stitches Used

– sc

– hdc

– dc

– Star Stitch

– V Stitch- (dc, ch 1, dc) in same stitch

– Cable Stitch- skip next stitch, dc in next 3 stitches, dc in skipped stitch

– Linen Stitch

– Tipsy Clusters

– Shell Stitch- (2dc, ch 1, 2 dc) all in same stitch

 

Abbreviations for crochet Bag pattern free

– sl st- slip stitch

– blsc- back loop single crochet

– st’s- stitches

Beginning chain stitches DO NOT count as a stitch unless otherwise noted.

Bag Bottom

Ch 53, using the “spine” sc in the second chain from the hook and each chain (52sc’s)

Row 1- sc in each sc (52 sc’s)

Row 2-18- Repeat Row 1 Fasten off

From this point on you will be crocheting in the round, or in this case the rectangle 🙂

Round 1- Join yarn with a standing sc, sc in the next 50 sc’s, 2 sc’s in the next sc. You should now be ready to go down the short side. Put 1 sc in each row of the bag bottom being careful not to skip your first row for a total of 18 sc down the short side. Now for the second long side; 2 sc in the first sc of the long side, sc in the next 50 sc’s, 2 sc’s in the last sc of the long side. Now we are on the second short side. Put 1 sc in each row of the bag bottom being careful not to skip your first row for a total of 18 sc down the short side. 1 sc in same sc as beginning sc and join with a sl st in the back loop only of the first sc (144 sc’s)

Round 2- Ch 1, blsc in the same stitch as joining. Blsc in each sc around. Sl st to beginning sc (144 blsc’s)

Round 3- Ch 2 (does not count as a stitch) Hdc in same st as join, hdc in each sc around and join with a sl st in the first hdc . ( 144 hdc’s)

Round 4- ch 1, sc in same stitch as join, ch 9 (sc in next 4 stitches, ch 10) 35 times, sc in the next 3 stitches, join with a sl st to the beginning sc. (144 sc’s and 36 ch 10 lloops)

Round 5- Ch 1, sc in same stitch as joining and each sc around making sure your loops are in front of your work. Join with a sl st to beginning sc. (144 sc’s)

Round 6- Ch 1, sc in same stitch as join and in each sc around. Join with a sl st in beginning sc or use an invisible join. (144 sc’s)

Change color

Round 7- Repeat Round 4 (144 sc’s and 36 ch 10 loops)

Round 8- Repeat Round 5 (144 sc’s)

Round 9- Repeat Round 6 (144 sc’s)

Round 10- Repeat Round 4 (144 sc’s and 36 ch 10 loops)

Round 11- Repeat Round 5 (144 sc’s)

Round 12- Repeat Round 6 (144 sc’s)

Round 13- Ch 1, sc in same stitch as join and in each sc around. (144 sc’s)

I suggest before you do Round 14 that you weave all your loops first and secure them with stitch markers. Take your loop from Round 4 that is to the right of your starting stitch and weave the loop from Round 7 that is right below your starting stitch through it from back to front. Then take your loop from Round 1o that is to the right of the starting stitch and weave it through the loop from round 7 that you just weaved through the loop from Round 4 and secure it with a stitch marker in the second sc from the join (it should look like a zig-zag). Weave your next set of loops, skip 3 stitches and secure your loop to the next stitch; continue in this manner all the way around until all loops are secure. Make sure you have 3 open stitches between each secured loop.

Round 14- Ch 1, sc in same stitch as join and each stitch around making sure you are catching your loop with every 4th sc. Join with a sl st to first sc and fasten off or use an invisible join. (144 sc’s)

Round 15- Start with a standing dc in same stitch as the join and in every stitch around. Join with a sl st to the first dc or use an invisible join. (144 dc’s)

Round 16- Start with a standing sc in the same stitch as the join and in each stitch around. Join with a sl st to the beginning sc or use an invisible join. (144 sc’s)

Color Change (Beginning of Star Stitch)

Round 17- Join new color with a sl st in same stitch as the join, ch 3, insert hook in the second ch from the hook and pick up a loop and do the same in the 3rd ch from the hook, pick up a loop in the next 3 sc’s for a total of 6 loops on your hook, yarn over and pull through all 6 loops and close with a ch stitch creating the “eye” of the star. (Pick up 1 st in the “eye” , pick up 1 st in the side on the last of the 6 sts, pick up 1 st in same sc as the last of the 6 sts was picked up in, 1 st in each of the 2 next sc for a total of 6 loops on your hook, yarn over and pull through all 6 loops, ch 1 ) 70 times, hdc in the same sc as the last of the 6 sts, join the the 3rd ch of the beginning ch 3. ( 71 stars and 1 hdc)

Round 18- Ch 2 (does NOT count as your first hdc) and hdc in same stitch. 2 hdc in each “eye” all the way around, hdc in last hdc, join to the top of the beginning ch 2 or use an invisible join. (144 hdc’s)

Round 19- Standing sc in same stitch as join. Sc in each stitch around. (144 sc’s)

Color Change (Cable Stitch)

Round 20- Standing dc in the same stitch as joining, dc in the next 2 stitches, dc in the stitch right before your first dc; you have completed your first cable. (Skip the next stitch, dc in the next 3 stitches, dc in the skipped stitch) 35 times. Join with a sl st to the
beginning dc or use an invisible join. (36 Cables containing 144 dc’s)

Round 21- Standing sc in same stitch as join and in each dc around. (144 sc’s)

Round 30- Standing dc in same stitch as the join and in each sc around. Join with a slst to beginning dc or use an invisible join. (144 dc’s)

Round 31- Standing dc, ch 1, dc in same stitch as the join. First V-stitch made. [Skip the next 2 dc’s and V-stitch in the next] 47 times. Join with a sl st to the beginning dc or use an invisible join. (96 dc’s and 48 ch 1 spaces)

Round 32- Standing sc in the space between the first 2 V-stitches, 2sc in ch 1 space. [Sc between the next 2 V-stitches, 2 sc’s in ch 1 space]47 times. Join with a sl st to the beginning sc or use an invisible join. (144 sc’s)

with a sl st to the first dc or use and invisible join. (120 dc’s and 12 ch 2 spaces)

Color Change

Round 39- Start with a standing dc in same stitch as join, dc in the next 3 dc’s. [5dc’s in the first dc of the 5 dc group, ch 2, skip the next 4 dc’s, dc in the next 5 dc’s] 11 times. 5dc’s in the first dc of the 5 dc group, ch 2, skip the next 4 dc’s, dc in the last dc.
Join with a sl st to the first dc or use an invisible join. (120 dc’s and 12 ch 2 spaces)

Round 40- Standing dc in same stitch as the join, dc in the next 3 sc’s. Ch 2 , skip the first 4 dc of the 5 dc group and do 5 dc in the last dc of the group. (Dc in the next 5 dc’s, ch 2, skip the next 4 dc of the 5 dc group and do 5 dc in the last dc of the group) 11 times. Dc in the last dc. Join with a sl st with the first dc or use an invisible join and fasten off. (120 dc’s and 12 ch 2 spaces)

Color Change

Round 41- Repeat Round 39 but do not fasten off (120 dc’s and 12 ch 2 spaces)

Round 42- Sl St in next dc, ch 2 (does NOT count as a hdc) and hdc in same stitch. Hdc in the next 3 stitches. Sc in the next 3 stitches, hdc in next stitch, 2 hdc in ch 2 space, (hdc in the next 6 stitches, sc in the next 3 stitches, hdc in the next stitch, 2 hdc’s in the ch 2 space) 2 times, hdc2tog. *(Hdc in the next 4 stitches, sc in the next 3 stitches, hdc in the next stitch, 2hdc’s in the ch 2 space, [hdc in the next 6 stitches, sc in the next 3 stitches, hdc in the next stitch, 2 hdc’s in the ch 2 space] 2 times, hdc2tog) Repeat from * 3 times. Join with a slip stitch to beginning hdc or use an invisible join. (72 sc’s, 64 hdc, 4hdc2tog= 140 st’s)

Color Change (Leaves)

Round 43- Standing sc in same stitch as the join, sc in next 7 stitches, *[sc, ch 7] 3 times in next stitch, sc in same stitch (leaf cluster made), sc in next 9 stitches. Repeat from * 13 times, omitting 8 sc in last repeat. Join with a sl st to first sc or use an invisible join. 126 sc’s and 14 leaf clusters (sc in leaf cluster are not counted in stitch count as they go unused)

Color Change

Round 44- Standing sc in same stitch as join, sc in the next 7 sc’s, * holding leaf cluster to the front, ch 1, skip leaf cluster, sc in the 9 sc’s between the clusters, Repeat from * 13 times omitting 8 sc’s from the last repeat. Join with a sl st to the first sc. (126 sc’s and
14 ch-1’s)

Round 45- Ch 1, sc in same stitch as the join, sc in the next stitch, sc in next stitch catching the ch 7 loop that is to the RIGHT of the join, sc in the next 3 sc’s, *sc in the next sc catching the ch 7 loop, sc in the next 2 sc’s, sc in the ch 1 space, sc in the next 2 sc’s,
sc in the next sc catching the ch 7 loop, sc in the next 3 sc’s, Repeat from * until end of round joining with a sl st to the beginning sc catching the last leaf with the sl st. (140 sc’s)

Round 46- Ch 1, sc in same stitch as join and each sc around. Join with a sl st to first sc. (140 sc’s)

Round 47 (Flower- will be working with 2 colors and carrying it under the stitches behind your work)- Ch 1, sc in same stitch as the join and in the next 8 sc’s, sc in the next sc but before you finish the stitch change to the flower color and pull through the 2 loops on your hook, 6 dc in the next sc while catching the ch 7 loop (twist loop once before catching) and before finishing the last dc change back to your background color, sc in the next 9 sc’s again changing to flower color before you finish the last sc, repeat from * omitting 8 sc from the last repeat and joining with a sl st to the first sc. You can cut your flower color and weave away the ends. (84 dc’s and 126 sc’s)

Round 48- Ch 1, sc in same stitch as join, sc in next 8 sc’s, *ch 1, skip the next 6 dc’s, sc in the next 9 sc’s. Repeat from * around, join with a sl st to the first sc or use an invisible join. (126 sc’s and 14 ch 1 spaces)

Round 49- Standing sc in same stitch as join, sc in each sc and ch 1 space around. (140 sc’s)

Round 50- Standing dc in same stitch as join, 3 dc in same stitch, skip next sc, sc in next sc, skip next 2 sc’s, 5 dc’s in next sc, *skip 2 sc’s, sc in next sc, skip next sc, 4 dc in next sc, skip next sc, sc in next sc, skip next 2 sc’s, 5 dc’s in next sc, Repeat from * 12 times, skip 2 sc, sc in the next and join with a sl stitch to first dc or use an invisible join.
