Free extra thick finger crochet Pumpkin pattern

MATERIALS

Bernat® Blanket Extra Thick™ (21.2 oz/600 g; 72 yds/66 m)

Pumpkin (62086) or Vintage White (62008) 1 ball or 55 yds/51 m

Approx. ¼” [6 mm] diameter x 4″ [10 cm] long stick or dowel for stem.

Polyfil stuffing.

ABBREVIATIONS

Rem = Remain(ing)

RS = Right side

Sc = Single crochet

Sl st(s) = Slip stitch(es)

WS = Wrong side

MEASUREMENTS

Approximately (approx) 11″

[28 cm] diameter x 8″ [20.5 cm] tall, excluding stem.

GAUGES

2 single crochet (sc) and 2 rows = 4″ [10 cm] using Finger Crochet technique.

INSTRUCTIONS

Notes:

• Finger crochet technique is used.

• No hook required.

• Work stitches to fit thumb and first finger – making sure to not pull stitches tight.

Chain (ch) 11.

1st row: (Right side [RS]). Using pointer finger and thumb: (Pull working yarn up through back loop
of first ch and loop on your finger – Slip stitch through back loop (Sl stbl) made) in 2nd ch from last loop. 1 sl stbl in each ch to end of chain. Turn. 10 slip stitches (sl sts).

2nd row: Ch 1. 1 sl stbl in each stitch (st) across. Turn.

Repeat (rep) 2nd row until work from beginning (beg) measures approx. 26″ [66 cm]. Do not fasten off.

Joining row: Fold work in half, Wrong side (WS) together (tog), so first and last rows meet. Working
through both thicknesses, in back loops of last row and remaining (rem) loops of foundation ch: Ch 1. 1 sl st in each st across. Fasten off.

Weave yarn through sts at end of rows on one edge of Pumpkin, pull tight to close bottom and secure on WS.

Stuff Pumpkin.

Weave yarn through sts at end of rows on rem (top) edge of Pumpkin. Insert 4″ [10 cm] long stick in opening, leaving 3″ [7.5 cm] outside for stem. Pull yarn tight to close opening around stick and tie off. Pull yarn tails inside Pumpkin.
