SKILL LEVEL: EASY

MATERIALS

Bernat® Softee® Baby™ (5 oz/140 g; 362 yds/331 m)

Contrast A Soft Peach (30410) 3 balls

Contrast B White (02000) 2 balls

Size U.S. 7 (4.5 mm) Susan Bates® Silvalume® crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge. Tapestry needle.

MEASUREMENTS

Approx 29″ [73.5 cm] square.

GAUGE

9 sts and 17 rows = 4″ [10 cm] in pat.

ABBREVIATIONS

Approx = Approximately

Beg = Begin(ning)

Berry St = Yoh. Insert hook in next st. Yoh and pull up a loop. Yoh and pull through one loop. Yoh and insert hook into same space. Yoh and pull up a loop. Yoh and pull through all five loops on hook.

Cont = Continue(ity)

Dc = Double crochet

Dcbp = Yoh and draw up a loop around post of next stitch at back of work, inserting hook from right to left. (Yoh and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice.

Dcfp = Yoh and draw up a loop around post of next stitch at front of work, inserting hook from right to left. (Yoh and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice.

Pat = Pattern

Rep = Repeat

Rnd(s) = Round(s)

RS = Right side

Sl st = Slip stitch

Sc = Single crochet

Sp(s) = Space(s)

St(s) = Stitch(es)

Yoh = Yarn over hook

INSTRUCTIONS

Stripe Pat:

**With A, work 8 row

With B, work 8 rows.**

Rep from ** to * 6 times more. With A, work 8 rows.

These 120 rows form Stripe Pat.

With A, ch 110. (Pat is worked over an even number of ch.)

1st row: (RS). 1 sc into 2nd ch from hook. *1 berry stitch in next ch. 1 sc in next ch. Rep from * to end of chain. Turn.

2nd row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each st to end of row. Turn.

3rd row: Ch 1. *1 sc in next st. 1 berry stitch in next st. Rep from * to end of row. Turn. First 3 rows of Stripe Pat are now in place

Keeping cont of Stripe Pat, rep 2nd and 3rd rows until all 120 rows of Stripe Pat are complete. Fasten off.

BORDER

Note: Ch 2 at beg of rnd does not count s as st.

With RS facing, join A with sl st to any corner sp.

1st rnd: Ch 2. Work 1 rnd of dc evenly around perimeter of Blanket, working 3 dc into each corner sp. Join with sl st to first dc.

Note: You will work 1 dc per row of hdc along the left and right sides of Blanket.

2nd rnd: Ch 2. *1 dcfp around next st. 1 dcbp around next st.

Rep from * around

Note: When you work corners, you will maintain cont of (1 dcfp. 1 dcbp) st pat while working 3 sts around corner sts.

You will work either (1 dcfp. 1 dcbp. 1 dcfp) or (1 dcbp 1 dcfp. 1 dcbp) around corner sts.

3rd rnd: As 2nd rnd.

Note: You should work all dcfp from previous rnd as dcfp, and work all dcbp from previous rnd as dcbp.

4th rnd: As 3rd rnd.

FINISHING

Weave in all ends with tapestry needle.
