Geosquares crochet blanket (red, yellow, pink)

MATERIALS

Bernat® Blanket™ (10.5 oz/300 g; 220 yds/201 m)

Contrast A Vintage White (100006) 3 balls or 461 yds/422 m

Contrast B Dark Teal (10825) 1 ball or 176 yds/161 m

Contrast C Lapis (10800) 1 ball or 88 yds/80 m

Contrast D Pumpkin Spice (10630) 1 ball or 165 yds/151 m

Contrast E Sunsoaked (10918) 1 ball or 88 yds/80 m

Contrast F Tan Pink (10898) 1 ball or 88 yds/80 m

Contrast G Shadow Purple (10882) 1 ball or 88 yds/80 m

Size U.S. L/11 (8 mm) Susan Bates® Silvalume® crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge. Susan Bates® yarn needle.

MEASUREMENTS

Approx 45″ x 59″ [114.5 x 150 cm].

GAUGES

7 sc and 8 rows = 4″ [10 cm].

Motif = 7″ [18 cm] square.

INSTRUCTIONS

Notes:

• Ch 3 at beg of rnd counts as dc throughout.

• 2 colors are worked each rnd.

• When changing colors, hold color not in use at WS of work.

• Motif is worked back and forth, then joined in rnds.

MOTIF

Make 8 each using B, C, D, E, F and G as Color 2. 48 Motifs total.

With A, ch 3. Join with sl st to form a ring.

1st rnd: Ch 3 (counts as dc). (2 dc. Ch 2. 3 dc) in ring. Ch 1.

Drop A. With Color 2, ch 1. (3 dc. Ch 2. 3 dc) in ring. Ch 1.

Join with hdc to top of beg ch-3 (beg sp). Turn.

2nd rnd: (WS). With Color 2, ch 3. 1 dc around post of joining hdc. *1 dc in each dc to next corner ch-2 sp. (2 dc. Ch 2. 2 dc) in

corner ch-2 sp. 1 dc in each dc to next corner ch-2 sp.* 2 dc in next corner ch-2 sp. Ch 1. Drop Color 2. With A, ch 1. 2 dc in same

ch-2 sp. Rep from * to * once more. 2 dc around post of joining hdc. Ch 1. Join with hdc to top of beg ch-3. Turn.

3rd rnd: (RS). With A, ch 3. 1 dc around post of joining hdc.

*1 dc in each dc to next corner ch-2 sp. (2 dc. Ch 2. 2 dc) in corner ch-2 sp. 1 dc in each dc to next corner ch-2 sp.* 2 dc in corner

ch-2 sp. Ch 1. Drop A. With Color 2, ch 1. 2 dc in same ch-2 sp. Rep from * to * once more. 2 dc around post of joining hdc. Ch 1.

Join with hdc to top of beg ch-3.

Fasten off.

FINISHING

Join Motifs as shown in diagram on page 3 using Whipstitch, taking care not to pull seam too tightly to ensure Motifs lay flat without puckering.

Border
Join D with sl st to any corner ch-2 sp.
1st rnd: Ch 2 (does not count as hdc). 1 hdc in each dc and ch-sps around, working (2 hdc. Ch 2. 2 hdc) in each corner ch-2 sp. Join B with sl st to first hdc. Break D.
2nd rnd: With B, ch 2 (does not count as hdc). 1 hdc in each hdc around, working (2 hdc. Ch 2. 2 dc) in each corner ch-2 sp. Join with sl st to first hdc.
Fasten off.
